Allie the stewardess

Allie spent many years working for the airlines before she took up her pen.  Here you can see her in those 'good old days.'  Yes, she loved flying.  Yes, it was great fun.  Yes, she really was that skinny.  And, no, that isn't David Cassidy.  He was pretty cute, though.  This photo was taken during a fuel stop in Gander, Newfoundland.

Across the High Moors

Although Allie loved flying, she was more than happy to give up airport stress and full flights in favor of more quiet paths ... like this one.  (yes, this is in Scotland)

Sandwood Bay resident

Allie's travels still bring her in contact with interesting characters. This one greeted her as she approached northwest Scotland's remote Sandwood Bay.  Unfortunately, the jaunty sailor said to haunt this place wasn't as friendly and declined to show himself.

Skye Pals

No one can accuse these Skye sheep of not being friendly.  They either took a strong liking to Allie or suspected she was bringing FOOD. Fact is, when they spotted her, they came running.

Carbost Friend

Another woolly pal, again on Skye. This one was even kind enough to strike a pleasing pose.

Geese & Quernstones

Allie loves all creatures, be they furred or feathered. These geese were spotted in Shetland and definitely made Allie smile.

Leakeys - Inverness

Nowadays, with the exception of braving busy Newark Airport in order to board a Glasgow-bound plane, Allie much prefers crowded bookshelves to thronging airports. This is a favorite haunt - Leakeys Second Hand Bookshop in Inverness. Built in the old Greyfriars Hall, a visit there is the ultimate for true lovers of books. The little U-shaped section on the left-hand side of the photo has Scottish books and, yes, Allie can spend whole days examining every tome.  If you go, be sure to have a sandwich and tea in Leakey's wonderful loft-cafe.  Allie favors the tuna sandwich....

When all else fails and even crowded bookshelves are too much, Allie heads for you-know-where again, tanking tranquility in places like this on Scotland's rugged North Sea coast.  These peaceful-seeming cliffs once held a Pictish fort and later a medieval stronghold.  Today little remains but the sea wind, the cry of gulls, and -perhaps- a few ghosts!
